Sea Turtle Inc. is a conservation facility for sea turtles that can either no longer go out into the wild or are recovering from an injury. Visitors can learn about each of the turtles and do crafts like "trash-free thinking," "create your own sea turtle" and "hurt in the hospital crossword." There is also a gift shop here that you can work at.

Meet the Turtles

The residents here who can no longer be out in the wild are:
  • Merry Christmas
  • Fred
  • Hang Ten
  • Allison
  • and Gerry

The various ailments that the turtles deal with are misshapen flippers, being cold-stunned, only having three flippers and more.

History

The center was founded by the Turtle Lady of South Padre, Ila Fox Loetscher. The ex-pilot loved caring for sea turtles, so she founded Sea Turtle Inc. She passed away in 2000, but her love for turtles lives on as people come to see the turtles and learn about sea turtle conservation.
